Why are my family photos are at sunset?
Like most of you, I love a good sunset. It's a beautiful way to end the day when it cools down and the sky shows off. It is called "golden hour", because it is when the sun is low in the horizon giving off a soft (diffused) golden warm glow. It runs about 45 minutes to an hour before sunset, which can be pretty late in summer, so why do I prefer to take photos at this time?
The short of it is, shooting at sunset will allow for a beautiful soft, warm, flattering light. It is the best lighting to polish imperfections on the skin and make you look your best.
With the sun being so low, it also creates rich colors and maintains tones.
A third reason sunset is a great time for family photos is the SKY! Sunset is known for its beauty and epic displays! Why would you NOT want that in your family photo as well?
